Pontivy

In 1802 Napoleon interested in this exceptional place in the heart of Brittany, he decides to build a new town and decided to make the center a "great trade in peace" and a military center in war. Thus, Pontivy becomes "Napoleonville" in 1804.

The choice of Napoleon to make a strategic center Pontivy accompanied by extensive work including the channeling of Blavet to Lorient, construction of the Civil Court of 1st Instance, the Hotel for the Sub-prefecture of Morbihan in 1839 and the Town Hall in 1834.
